Applications of Nanomaterials for Heavy Metal Removal from Water and Soil: A Review
نویسندگان
چکیده
Heavy metals are toxic and non-biodegradable environmental contaminants that seriously threaten human health. The remediation of heavy metal-contaminated water soil is an urgent issue from both biological points view. Recently, nanomaterials with excellent adsorption capacities, great chemical reactivity, active atomicity, environmentally friendly performance have attracted widespread interest as potential adsorbents for metal removal. This review first introduces the application removing ions environment. Then, factors affecting nanomaterials, their toxicity, risks discussed. Finally, challenges opportunities applying in discussed, which can provide perspectives future in-depth studies applications.

Removal of Cationic Heavy Metal and HOC from Soil-Washed Water Using Activated Carbon
Soil washing process with a surfactant solution is a potential technology for the rapid removal of hydrophobic organic compound (HOC) from soil. However, large amount of washed water would be produced during operation and this should be treated effectively by proper methods. The soil washed water for complex contaminated site with HOC and heavy metals might contain high amount of pollutants suc...
متن کاملRemoval of Heavy Metal from Contaminated Soil with Chelating Agents
Removal of copper and nickel by the addition of the biodegradable chelating agent, chitosan and ethylenediamine tetraacetic acid (EDTA), was investigated, alongside the reaction of a reference compound sodium citrate for comparison. The artificial-contaminated soils were used in this study. The experiments showed that the extraction ability for copper and nickel from the contaminated soil decre...
متن کاملHeavy Metal Removal from Water and Wastewater Using Raw and Modified Diatomite (TECHNICAL NOTE)
heavy metal removal from water and wastewater was investigated by using raw and modified diatomite from Iranian mines. Modification of diatomite was done by impregnating the diatomite surface with 0.35 g of manganese oxide in one gram of diatomite. This modified diatomite was named Mn-Diatomite. The surface area measurements for Mn-diatomite showed a 2.2 fold increase, hence higher removal capa...
متن کاملRemoval of heavy metal ions from wastewaters: a review.
Heavy metal pollution has become one of the most serious environmental problems today. The treatment of heavy metals is of special concern due to their recalcitrance and persistence in the environment. In recent years, various methods for heavy metal removal from wastewater have been extensively studied. This paper reviews the current methods that have been used to treat heavy metal wastewater ...
